A few words about the online store

As most of you probably know, finding just the right strings for your instrument can be challenging, especially when you consider all the possibilities that exist. With our online store we have tried to distill into one easy to navigate page, the essence of what most period string players use.  Also, call or email us if you don't see what you are looking for, since we will likely have them in stock.  We will be happy to help you find appropriate strings for your instrument; so please contact us if you have any questions!

We strive to maintain competitive prices.  Most serious players consider sheep gut to be superior (in terms of sound quality) than beef,  especially for the first and second strings.  For this reason thinner gauge strings are offered only in sheep gut and as strings get thicker (starting after around 1.00mm) we offer both options.  All Gamut brand strings that are not labeled sheep gut are made of beef.  As far as Toro brand strings,  they are all made of sheep gut, so if you would like to purchase beef,  let us know and we will order them for you.  Gift cards for any amount you wish are also available upon request.

We store our strings in a climate controlled room so humidity is kept at 30% - 35% during the winter months and 40% during the summer.

Free shipping for all orders over $100 otherwise $5. However, if you need your strings right away (Express Mail),  email or call us with your order rather than doing so online, since we will need to apply an additional charge .
